October 2016 – British Invasion

British Invasion

What a ripper. Stu had a great time singing ‘Walk In The Room’ and ‘Bus Stop’ and all the Yardbirds and The Who and Herman’s Hermits tunes and more. Miss Amber nailed the Dusty Springfield and Petula Clarke tunes as well as brought home the evening with a groovy version of She’s Not There’ by The Zombies.

John Hill on was a fabulous ‘Gerry’ from The Pacemakers with ‘Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying’ and ‘Ferry Cross The Mersey’ and also did a mean version of The Animals – ‘The House Of The Rising Sun’. Johno Hill did a great job on Small Faces ‘Itchycoo Park’ and Them’s ‘Gloria ‘ and The Kinks’ ‘You Really Got Me’… also adding some nice vocal support on the 2nd set.

It’s Belle Hendrik every time who steals the show. She reveled in singing ‘Anyone Who had a Heart’ plus unforgettable versions of Sandy Shaw’s ‘Puppet On A String’ and Cilla Black’s ‘You’re My World’. She looked amazing with her cute little bob hair do, spangly dress and boots.

Evan Landers did a fablous job of all the riffs and that add so much to the sound of the tunes. Together with Jason Caspen on Drums, Alan Brooker on Bass and John Hill on piano we had a wonderful tight band who conquered some tricky arrangements and even improvised a little together. So much fun was had by all. Smiles everywhere. Maddy & Terry took home the A1 poster. Thanks to the club and Luis for his excellent sound and of course Deb on the door.

Thanks for the excellent photographic documentation by Lyn McCarthy of Niche Pics
